Workshop will improve the skills and knowledge base of design, rehabilitation, and forensics professionals (consultants, architects, and engineers), developers, contractors, and building system manufacturers. University and college level students welcome. The sessions will focus on the advancement of modern building enclosures by addressing aspects of manufacturing of products/systems, specification, installation, and building maintenance including investigation and repair. The program comprises of ten, 75-minute presentations, an exhibitor zone, and network reception.

Dec 11: Brighten the Holidays for the Youth at Hale Kipa!
RSVP Today! Wednesday, Dec 11, 11:30am-1pm, Center for Architecture (Must RSVP for free lunch)
Donate a gift to the CFA by December 11, and join us as we wrap presents and enjoy a free holiday lunch.
Hale Kipa is a local private non-profit organization focusing on the youth who are at risk, e.g. homeless or living with an abusive family. The organization supports teens by providing a wide range of programs which includes emergency shelter, independent living skills, and a transitional family program.

AIA Committee Meetings
AIA Honolulu committee meetings are open to all active AIA Honolulu members.
Dec 9: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Architecture, 12pm-1pm
This committee will support equity, diversity, and inclusion within the design community and create a stronger profession by providing opportunities for career progression, leadership development, elevating work culture, and inclusive talent recruitment.
Dec 12: Housing Committee Meeting, 12pm-1pm
The AIA Honolulu Housing Committee was created to promote the development of safe, attractive, accessible, and affordable housing. It will provide leadership, advocacy, and education to the profession and the public in matters related to housing design.

AIA National’s Architects Foundation is now accepting applications for five scholarships supporting students pursuing architecture degrees. The application period for these five scholarships is open through Jan. 17, 2020. More information on the Foundation’s scholarship programs can be found online.

Dec. 6: AIAS-SCASLA-UHSA^3 Gingerbread Esquisse
This year the alumni are coordinating with AIAS and the Student Chapter of the Society of Landscape Architects (SCASLA) at the School of Architecture for the Annual Gingerbread Esquisse!
Join them Friday, Dec. 6 at 5pm in the School of Architecture Courtyard. Kits available for $8 and completed structures will be judged and prizes awarded. Or you can just come for the fun! Feel free to bring your friends, family and kids! There will be a BBQ dinner and games + a silent auction in support of Joyce Noe's Retirement Celebration held next year.
RSVP: RSVP in advance to aias@hawaii.edu so they can have enough kits. Additional kits will be available if you end up not having anything to do on Friday and want to support this joint event!

Attend the Department of Planning and Permitting's (DPP) free public workshops to refine the content of the Primary Urban Center (PUC) Development Plan. Review their proposed plan direction, comment on suggested policies/strategies, vote on and prioritize implementation actions, ask questions of staff, and share any outstanding concerns.
