Feb 4: 2020 Shinnen Enkai Networking Reception
When/Where: Tuesday, Feb. 4, 5:30-7:30pm, Café Julia, 1040 Richards Street
AIA Honolulu members are invited to to celebrate the New Year and new Legislative Session with construction industry leaders and elected officials. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about issues affecting contractors, and speak directly with elected officials. The Construction Industry Council of Hawaii (CICH) is pleased to continue the Shinnen Enkai tradition begun by the Construction Industry Legislative Organization (CILO).
Cost: $25-$35/person. This is not a fundraiser. Registration covers the actual costs of the event.

2020 Codes and Standards Committee - Bill Brizee, AIA with AHL The 2020 president of the American Institute of Architects, just offered Bill Brizee, AIA an appointment to serve on the AIA’s 2020 Codes and Standards Committee. He will be one out of twelve members and the first from Hawaii to represent on this committee. As 2020 AIA National President L. Jane Frederick, FAIA stated in her confirmation email "I would like to thank you in advance for your willingness to serve the Institute in this manner. Without question, the life, vitality, and future of the AIA are dependent on the commitment you and your fellow members make on behalf of your profession." Thank you Bill for stepping up and giving AIA Honolulu a voice at AIA National. We look forward to your further updates.
2020-2022 AIA National Leadership Academy - Todd Hassler, AIA, with PVA Todd Hassler, AIA will join the inaugural class of the 2020-2022 AIA Leadership Academy; a small and highly-selective program, intended to help develop future leaders for the profession in both the practice and the community. The program includes both remote and in person training sessions for 3 years held at various AIA Chapters, Center for Architecture. Thank you, Todd for your commitment to AIA. We look forward to you sharing your updates.
Young Architect Regional Director, AIA Northwest & Pacific Region - Jason Takeuchi, AIA with Ferraro Choi Jason Takeuchi, AIA will of course continue in his role as a Young Architect Regional Director with the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region. This is a position he held since January 2019 and has done a good job!

Yann Weymouth Graduate Scholarship
The Yann Weymouth Graduate Scholarship, offered by the Architect’s Foundation, supports a graduate student whose work demonstrates an exemplary focus at the design intersection of sustainability, resilience, wellness and beauty. The scholarship recipient receives $5,000 and mentorship from Yann Weymouth, AIA for the scholarship year. The scholarship application deadline is Friday, January 17.
