Dec 14: Attend Our December Community Service Event
Spread some Holiday spirit! We need a few more gifts for our Salvation Army Angel Tree Gift Drive.

Join us for our December GMM Community Service Event. In partnership with SSFM and in the spirit of the holidays, the special theme will be the Salvation Army Angel Tree Gift Drive. This year it will benefit children from Kauluwela Elementary School and ten just added senior citizens.
"Swag Bag" Giveaway! There will be drawing for "swag bag" giveaways donated by Allied Members Western Doors.

End-of-Year Giving Tips for Architecture Firms
While year-end giving can be a gesture of goodwill, it can also be a crucial part of reducing the tax burden associated with running a business. Here are some considerations for design practitioners to best direct their charitable intentions.
To qualify for tax deductions on charitable giving, organizations and individuals must make their donations by Dec. 31. But before tallying up every philanthropic gesture, architecture firms should be aware that not all giving qualifies for a deduction, which may affect how much a firm chooses to donate. AIA Selects Recipients for the Topaz Medallion, Whitney M. Young Jr. Award and the Kemper Award
Last week the Board of Directors and the Strategic Council of the American Institute of Architects selected recipients for the Topaz Medallion for architecture education, the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award that honors architects that champion a range of social issues, and the Kemper Award which recognizes significant contributions to the profession and Institute. 2018 AIA Gold Medal and Architecture Firm Award Recipients Selected
The Board of Directors of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) voted last week to award the 2018 AIA Gold Medal to James Stewart Polshek, FAIA. 2017 Research Summit Report
The 2017 Research Summit advanced the AIA's goals around research, with its key objective to help form an architectural research agenda and action plan for the Institute. Senate tax reform proposal moves forward
The Senate passed its tax reform legislation early Saturday. AIA Government Relations provided additional information to CACE on Monday under separate cover, including this memorandum to components and a chart comparing the House and Senate bills. Apply for 2018-2019 Architects Foundation Scholarships
The Center for Architecture in New York is now accepting applications for the Arnold W. Brunner grant until February 1, 2018. The Arnold W. Brunner grant is designed for mid-level architects to pursue architectural investigations that will effectively contribute to the knowledge, teaching, or practice of the art and science of architecture. The project must engage in contemporary architectural issues within a local and global context. The sole recipient will be awarded up to $15,000. Learn More >
