Apr 27: Oahu Public Film Night: BIG TIME, 5:30pm-8pm
The 2017 Danish documentary “BIG TIME” (1.33 minutes) will be shown at the Center for Architecture and follows Danish architect Bjarke Ingels for the seven-year period from 2009 to 2016 as he embarks on his most ambitious project yet: Two World Trade Center. In 2016, Ingels was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People.
We will end the evening with an open discussion moderated by Geoff Lewis, AIA.
Cost: Free (suggested donation at the door).
- Apr 28: Architectural Walking Tour: Kaka’ako, Tours starting from 3pm-4:50pm
You are invited to join in a Walking Tour of Kakaako, led by AIA member-architects. This is a rare opportunity to explore the area’s rich history and future vision from a design perspective. Over the course of two hours, walkers will learn about architecturally significant historic and recent buildings and spaces in an area of urban Honolulu that has been the focus of so much attention in recent years. Cost is $15 per person.

2018 SAME Honolulu Scholarship Program Application
Application deadline is June 15, 2018.
The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME Honolulu) is again offering scholarships to deserving high school seniors and college students who will be or are currently enrolled at a university with an accredited engineering or architecture program. College students currently enrolled in an accredited engineering or architecture program are encouraged to apply for the one-year scholarship ($1,500). High School seniors who will be enrolled in an accredited engineering or architecture program at a 4-year college/university are encouraged to apply for the 4-year scholarship ($6,000). Get a head start by acquiring knowledge of the new code ahead of anticipated adoption by the counties. Since the last update 12 years ago, many technological and code improvements have been made. Learn about the new code from national code authority, Erik Kolderup, P.E. and Howard Wiig of the State Energy Office and State Building Code Council, who has been instrumental in the development and passage of the Hawai‘i amendments.
