Feb 5: 2019 Shinnen Enkai Networking Reception

When/Where: Tuesday, February 5, 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Café Julia, 1040 Richards Street

AIA Honolulu members are invited to celebrate the New Year and the legislative session with other construction industry leaders and public officials at the Construction Industry Council of Hawaii’s (CICH) traditional Shinnen Enkai or New Year’s Celebration.

This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about related industry issues and meet with your counterparts in the industry and the legislators who will be driving the important issues during this coming session. The CICH serves as the umbrella organization for construction groups in Hawai‘i’s building industry. Cost is $25/person.


Feb 27: 2019 Mentorship Program + Kick Off Pau Hana

Register Online! Online registration to the Kickoff Pau Hana automatically enrolls you in the program. Registration limited to first 25 participants.

When/Where: Wednesday, Feb. 27, 5:30-7:30pm

We invite AIA Honolulu members (AIA, Assoc. AIA, Allied Members), Sister Organization Members and Non-Members to participate in a new mentorship program geared toward emerging professionals and their development.

A formal platform and social group for emerging professionals to engage with industry leaders from diverse backgrounds. Five learning groups will engage a new mentor every other month in Pau Hana setting (five meetings total March - November 2019)

2019 Kick-Off Pau Hana! The program begins with a Kick-Off Pau Hana, which will be an informal gathering to introduce the program and allow participants to meet the mentors and their learning groups. All participants are strongly encouraged to attend the kick-off pau hana.

Program Cost: $50 - Includes Pau Hana Kickoff + 5 Group Mentoring Sessions.

AIA Recipients for 2019 Institute Honor Awards for Interior Architecture

AIA is recognizing nine projects with its 2019 Institute Honor Awards for Interior Architecture. The 2019 Interior Architecture program celebrates the most innovative interior spaces. The five-member jury evaluates entries based on design achievement, including sense of place and purpose, ecology and environmental sustainability and history.

Register for Grassroots 2019 March 6-8 in Washington DC

Register Now for Grassroots 2019 and this year's event will be held in Washington, DC March 6-8 at the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel.

Grassroots 2019 is AIA’s annual leadership and legislative event for elected chapter leaders and chapter staff. This year’s agenda emphasizes chapter and community leadership with workshops designed to help elected chapter officers become more effective chapter and civic leaders. Attendees share information, ideas, and best practices with their counterparts from around the country and are given the opportunity to provide input on AIA initiatives. There are also many networking opportunities with peers and AIA national staff.  This year’s theme is “People. Purpose. Partnerships.” Learn More.


AIA Grassroots 2019 Leadership Conference Scholarship Due Feb. 4

The Call for Applications for Scholarships for Emerging Professionals to attend the AIA Grassroots Leadership Conference in Washington DC on March 6-8 is Now Open! The scholarship is provided to Associates and Young Architect members of AIA, who have been registered less than 10 years. The scholarship covers airfare and registration expenses.  Read more >
