Apr 30: "Harnessing the Strengths of Introverts"
Register Online Today! Tuesday, April 30, 12pm-1:30pm, Center for Architecture
Research has shown that extroverts tend to be more successful in the corporate world, earning more and reaching senior level managerial roles faster. However, recent leadership studies have shown that introverts make as good, if not better leaders than extroverts, but that introverts lack essential tools to help them land leadership roles.
• How do we ensure that introverts with great leadership potential in organizations do not get overlooked?
• What are best practices and tips for the formal mentoring of high potential introverts?
• How do I network or find mentors as an introvert?
Speakers: Eric K. Yeaman, President and COO, First Hawaiian Bank and Glen Kaneshige, President, Nordic PCL Construction.
Cost: $30 AIA Members, $35 Non-Members & $20 Students. Cost includes lunch.

APA Honors AIA's Sustainable Design Assessment Team Program
Award honors projects, plans, policies, individuals, and organizations whose work is dedicated to supporting and growing sustainable communities.
WASHINGTON – April 15, 2019 – The American Planning Association (APA) is recognizing the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) program with its 2019 Excellence in Sustainability Awards for its dedication to supporting and growing sustainable communities.
The award, given by the APA’s Sustainable Communities Division, supports planners and related professionals in their efforts to foster a sustainable and resilient future. AIA’s SDAT program works with localities around the country to create community-driven action plans that help them achieve sustainable design plans for the future. Complete details of the program are available online.
“Through the SDAT process, our community established a detailed implementation plan for positive change towards a sustainable future,” said Nathan A. West, AICP, City Manager of the City of Port Angeles, Washington. “Ten years after working with the SDAT team, there continues to be new success stories, which include improved public access to our waterfront and over sixty façade improvements integrated by a large number of area businesses. All the success stories visually illustrate SDAT’s direct benefit to our community.” Learn more about SDAT’s impact on Port Angeles.
