Jan 6 - Attend our Talk by Shim-Sutcliffe at the Center for Architecture

Speakers Brigitte Shim, FRAIC and Howard Sutcliffe, RAIC will share their environmentally sensitive and elegant site-specific design work. Their Toronto-based firm is created around their shared passion for architecture, landscape and furniture which will also be featured, along with the intricate construction and fabrication of buildings, sites which they have touched. These intersections has positioned them to question fundamental relationships between object and ground, building and landscape, man and nature.
Shim-Sutcliffe’s projects have won local, national and international recognition and awards. Their built work has been exhibited internationally and been published throughout the world.

The role of the AIA Honolulu RUDC Commitee is to review, discuss and advocate for positions on various urban design issues that affect our built environment and the communities we serve.

The next Pam Chambers Presentation Course (Level I) will begin January 20 and go for six Wednesday until February 24 from 6:00pm – 8:30 pm at the Center for Architecture. Become a more comfortable and effective speaker in front of others and accept speaking opportunities with confidence.

- Jan 7 - ACECH January Membership Meeting
On Thurs, Jan.7 ACECH will hold their General Membership Meeting. Registration starts 11:45am and lunch 12:00pm at the Honolulu Country Club. The cost is $45 for ACECH/AIA/ASCE members and $60 for non-members. The topic is “Update on the City's NPDES MS4 Permit Program - Revisions to the City's Soil Erosion and Storm Drainage Standards". The speaker is Randall Wakumoto, P.E., Storm Water Quality, Dep. of Facility Maintenance, City and Countu of Honolulu. Register via email of this form then follow up with payment by December 30, 2015.
- Feb. 3: Symposium on Innovative Learning Spaces
Attend the Symposium on Innovative Learning Spaces on Weds, Feb. 3, 5pm-8pm at the Iolani School, Sullivan Center. The keynote speaker is Susan Crichton, Director of the Faculty of Education at University of British Columbia Okanagan. Throughout K-12 education, “21st Century Learning” and “Design Thinking” have become frequently discussed topics. This symposium will explore the role that interior classrooms spaces and their furnishings play in these educational approaches. AIA CES credits provided by the organizers.
