Veteran's Day - Friday, Nov. 11, 2016
Mahalo to all AIA Honolulu members and family members who served in the U.S. Armed Forces! The AIA Honolulu Center for Architecture will be closed on Friday, November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day.
We will re-open for regular business on Monday, Nov. 14 at 9:00am. For information during this period visit AIA Honolulu or the AIA National website.

Nov 10: Young Architects Forum (YAF) / Fellows Pau Hana
Join us for this generational gathering of young architects and AIA Fellows. Exchange ideas, hear from the seasoned leaders of the profession and start building long-lasting relationships. Our Fellows will share, with the next generation, what it takes to become part of the very exclusive list of AIA Fellows.

Cocktails and pupus will enliven the evening. This is a unique opportunity to bring two AIA groups together to learn from and get to know one another.

Nov 16: GMM Pau Hana: All for Mentorship, Mentorship for All
Join us if you are seeking a mentor or would like to mentor an emerging architect.

Join us as we celebrate and encourage mentorship! Our November GMM will be a Pau Hana where members can learn about the AIA Honolulu Mentorship Program and find out who it serves and who can be a part of this every successful program, which has been mirrored by other AIA chapters across the country. Attendees will also informally meet past mentors and mentees and have an opportunity to talk with them about the program. Food & drinks provided by generous sponsors.
This is an excellent opportunity for AIA Honolulu members to start thinking about who they know who could be a mentor or who may benefit for being mentored.
Cost: Free for AIA Members and students. $5 donation for non-members at the door. Please RSVP no later than Nov 14 for planning purposes.
Nov 18: Regional and Urban Design Committee (RUDC) Meeting
Date: Friday, November 18, 12-1pm at the Center for Architecture.Open to all AIA Honolulu members. Feel free to bring your lunch.
The role of the AIA Honolulu RUDC committee is to review, discuss and advocate for positions on various urban design issues that affect our built environment and the communities we serve.

EVENT UPDATE! Oahu Public Film Night Vol 3 TINY
A Success! Mahalo to all 47 people who attended out Film Night on Thursday, Nov. 3. The audience was a combination of AIA Honolulu members, NAIOP members and the general public. For the film night we watched the documentary "TINY: A Story About Living Small" and after the viewing we had a four person panel discussion with an Q&A session afterwards.

"Still Houseless in Honolulu - Increasing the Supply of Housing at All Price Point"
At the first “Houseless in Honolulu” summit in 2015, BIA-Hawaii identified some of the challenges we face as a community with the limited supply of housing at all price points. Schools, universities, and hospitals, etc. would be challenged to recruit and retain professionals that serve our communities to live and work in Hawaii. Since then, the median price of a home on Oahu reached $760,000 in June 2016. View Event Flyer.
